Ramadan is a sacred month of mercy, compassion, and generosity. It is a time when Muslims around the world strengthen their connection with Allah, increase their acts of worship, and extend kindness to those in need. One of the most important acts of charity in this blessed month is Sadaqatul Fitr (Zakat al-Fitr)—a mandatory charity that ensures everyone, especially the poor, can share in the joy of Eid.
The Blessings of Ramadan
Ramadan reminds us of the struggles faced by those who live in poverty every day. Through fasting, we experience hunger and thirst, helping us develop empathy and compassion for those less fortunate.
Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur’an:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills.”(Qur’an 2:261)
This blessed month is a time when rewards are multiplied, prayers are answered, and acts of charity carry immense blessings.
What Is Sadaqatul Fitr?
Sadaqatul Fitr is a compulsory charity that must be given before the Eid prayer at the end of Ramadan. It purifies our fasts from any shortcomings and ensures that those in need can celebrate Eid with dignity.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The fast of Ramadan remains suspended between Heaven and Earth until the Zakat al-Fitr is paid.”(Reported by Ibn Shahin)
This charity is required for every member of the household, including children.
Minimum Amount for This Year
For this year, the minimum Sadaqatul Fitr amount is £5 per person.
By giving this small amount, you can help provide food and support for families struggling with poverty around the world.
Why Your Contribution Matters
At AAP Foundation (Action Against Poverty), we work to ensure that your Sadaqatul Fitr reaches the most vulnerable communities. Your contribution helps provide essential food supplies and support to families who would otherwise struggle to celebrate Eid.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.”(Reported by al-Tabarani)
When you give Sadaqatul Fitr, you are not only fulfilling an obligation—you are spreading hope, dignity, and joy to those in need.
